DIRECTOR'S STATEMENT

This project is my debut in directing a short film seriously and neatly. Prior to working on this film, I had directed several short films that were not well organized and were not distributed optimally. This film is also the result of learning scenario writing and directing guided by the producer of this film, Gugun Arief. The initial idea of this film's story is about my thoughts realizing how small our existence and self-actualization are when faced with the world. The emptiness I felt led me to write a story that later developed into the story of this film. Because I really wanted to turn this story into a short film, I then went to my producer to pitch it. There I was guided to develop the potential of the story that I originally had into something bigger and bolder. Armed with the literacy and thinking of me and the producer, this film's story was created which contains Plato's cave allegory, Philosophy of knowledge, and the influence of media. However, my producer had his own thoughts which he incorporated into this story as well.

This film takes 3-4 months starting from idea development to post-production. I believe that every production process of a film must experience certain obstacles, as well as the making of this film. The first obstacle is the location which is far from my current domicile. To carry out the progress of this film, I had to travel from Malang to Wlingi. And usually encounter obstacles in the form of road closures due to PPKM (quarantine), trains whose operations are stopped and so on. This is quite influential on the progress of making this film because it forced us to postpone the schedule that required me to be in the field. For the second problem, during the first day of filming, I had problems with my hearing where the sound in my right ear decreased and made me panic. Luckily it happened during recess so I was able to be quite calm when the take scene started. This problem also bothered me in doing sound checks, but luckily the sound was not too problematic so the problems I experienced did not interfere with the shooting process of this film.
